Here's something I worked up today while thinking about Mon-El's new costume as he's taken on the role of Superman. I like the idea of Mon-El taking up the mantle, but have a few issues with the new costume, most of which spiral from those discs that hold the cape on.Most of the decisions I made here come out of the idea that he would keep the discs, since they are arguably a trademark of his. I love his original costume, but as soon as they made it skintight instead of loose the discs look out of place. To counteract that I (1) made the discs slightly smaller then seem to be usually, (2) made the "S" bigger and moved it to the center, (3) as much as I don't typically care for the seam-lines, they seemed to help here, (4) put the cuffs back on his wrists, even if they are purely superficial, and (5) gave him "Flash" boots or whatever you want to call them. Other than that, I played just a little with the colors, the blue is a little darker and less saturated. I changed the colors on the "S" around, for whatever reason a light blue S looks a lot stranger than the gold/yellow. I think that's the haircut they've had him sporting lately too, unless I'm mistaken.
To me, he just looks a little more Superman and a little less "Admiral Mon-El" this way.
I'm not saying I'm a design whiz, far from it. I tend to stay away from these redesign things because I'm terrible at it, but I just kept thinking about this and had to get it on paper. And for the record, I like the way Bagley and others have been drawing him, it's purely the costume that bugged me.
1 of these things are not like the others:
Well done, I like your changes immensely.
