Curry and Dibny

Another sketch suggestion on Twitter, this time from Chris Samnee. He put in for Elongated Man, or Aquaman, so I went ahead and did both. Threw in Starro so they'd have something to glare at. I like drawing Elongated Man for the same reasons I like drawing Mister Fantastic and Plastic Man, plus he's got a great face to emote with. Even though it's not necessarily how I see him, I really liked the way Amanda Conner drew Aquaman when he showed up in Supergirl's feature in Wednesday Comics, so that's vaguely what I went with here. I suppose I'm still settling on a default look for him.

I think the detective angle for Ralph is great, it's a good way to set him apart from the million other stretchy guys. I don't know that these two have any other previous connections in the books, but wouldn't a Sherlock Holmes type book featuring Ralph with Aquaman as his Watson be great?

Well I think so.

7 of these things are not like the others:

That is great!

Yes, it would be great. Ever since Ralph's comment in Identity Crisis that "the detective came first" (with the implication that he just might be better than Batman), I've been hoping they'd take his character in that direction.

Ralph served under Aquaman as part of the Detroit era Justice League. Sure, they were also both Satellite Era, but where would they be without the Vibe?

Yes, when I first saw this image online (it's very googable) I thought it was a tribute to JLA Detroit (even though the pair interacted during the satellite and late JLI era as well).

Detective is the best way to go with Ralph. House is the Holmes of physicians, Ralph is the Holmes of super heroes.

I added this image to the image gallery section of my Elongated Man blog, with links to this post and the main page.

Have you thought about turning this image into a cover for the DC Fifty-TOO blog? I think it would make a fantstic proposal!!
