Some of you may know Steve Gettis, I'm going to go ahead and list three reasons why he's awesome.3. Steve has got an amazing collection of original art from comic book folks, with one of the best themes ever: literary creators and characters. I've had a link to the online counterpart to this collection, Hey Oscar Wilde! It's Clobberin' Time!, so I hope you've all checked it out by now. Any literary collection with Ben Grimm at the top is aces in my book.
2. Steve is one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure of "meeting" in the short time I've been pretending to be a cartoonist. Steve asked me to add something to his collection, and of course I'm more than happy to do so. Shortly after he asked, he sent my wife and I a big box of goodies. He didn't have to, but that's awfully cool of him.
1. Knowing I'm a huge fan of Alex Toth, Steve went right over the line of crazy awesome and sent me the above page of doodles that Toth sent him in 2002 accompanying the piece Alex did for the collection. He really didn't have to do that, but jeez-oh-man am I happy to have this in my office. I just received the page in the mail and can't stop staring at it. I think Steve did this because he knows that I have to name my first child Steven now.
So if you haven't checked out Hey Oscar Wilde! yet, go give it a look. By far my favorite theme collection. Thanks again Steve!
