I'm back with some more stuff I hope you guys are already reading. Today it's Jay Potts' World of Hurt. I feel a little silly, having only discovered this great strip about a week back when everyone else I know seems to have already been reading it. The great Dave Flora tipped me off to it and I've been a huge fan since. Potts takes great action, adventure, and dialogue and presents it with the deft draftsmanship of Al Williamson and Alex Raymond. To see something that's not only great to look at, but very well written in a serial strip format, well that's just fantastic. Certainly one of the best examples I've seen from the internet of an adventure strip done right. In the event that I ever get Red Clay off the ground, it's going to look mighty silly in comparison to Jay's work here. As a warning, WoH is suggested for mature readers, but I still encourage you to check it out.So I worked up this quick sketch this morning and slapped some color and text on it. I do love that typewriter font. I love drawing these types of characters, so it was a blast to try.
And if anybody at Marvel has any sense, they'll get Jay to do something, ANYTHING, with Luke Cage. Because that would be just too cool.
6 of these things are not like the others:
Love the drawing and thanks for turning me on to the strip!
HOLY SHIT! I think the biggest compliment another artist can give another is to draw one of his creations, and, man, this is a HUGE compliment! Aw man, that is absolutely beautiful, especially with what you did with the strategic placement of the white highlights to make the reflective surfaces pop.
I'm caught up with work this big project at work this week, so I wasn't sure what I would do for my Friday post. Can I use this as part of my Friday post?
Thank you so much for this. Dude, you just don't know what you did to brighten my day!
