And so begins VILLAIN WEEK! As I mentioned last Thursday, I'll be posting sketches featuring villains as suggested by folks over on twitter. I picked my six favorites from all the great suggestions, and we start off with Spider-Man baddie, the Scorpion!I remember as a kid, when my only familiarity with Spider-Man was the cartoon, thinking Scorpion was one of the lamest things I ever saw. It was like taking what made Dr. Octopus scary but only giving ol' Mac here a 1/4 of that. I wasn't crazy about the mask design back in the 90's either. I really like the 60's ski-mask Scorpion for some reason. The idea of this guy being in one of the movies cracks me up though, seeing some dude whipping his butt at everybody.
The villains coming up are a lot of fun, most of which I haven't drawn yet. There is another Spider-Man villain coming up this week, but hopefully not one you'd expect.
Oh, and I spent the weekend digging up and scanning all my old originals, so I've updated the shop with a lot of stuff, with more to come. Check it out!

Totally agree. I never really liked the 90's costume but i love the 60's ski mask/goggles one.
What's amazing is that Scorpy was such a bad ass when he first appeared (ASM #20, I think?) He completely overwhelmed Spidey physically and the webhead barely beat him. Things really went downhill for him after that. You really captured that old school vibe.
