Al Williamson passed away this week, and needless to say he was an industry titan. Over at the Comic Twart we decided to make this week's theme a tribute to the master himself, and above is a clip of my piece featuring Secret Agent Corrigan. You can see the full piece and my thoughts (for what they're worth) on Williamson here.
This is one of my all time favorite strips by Williamson and writer Archie Goodwin. It's been reprinted in a couple books on the American comic strip and I know I've posted it in a different places. That second panel alone with it's stark lighting on Corrigan himself, the atmosphere, and the lady steeped in shadow makes it my favorite, but the whole strip is gorgeous. Here are a couple more examples of the strip.
There's a first volume of the collected series coming from IDW in August, and I could not be more excited to pick it up. Al will be greatly missed.
