COMIC TWART Decided

With last week's piece for the COMIC TWART I challenged you guys to find the clues to who I was picking for my week. What I didn't tell you was that the three clues were to three different characters, because as of posting this last Wednesday, I hadn't decided. I've pointed them out above, but I'll also post some clips that have each face colored differently so it's easier to see.

3. Blueberry
Charlier and Giraud's western character ended up being a bit of a backup if I'd decided I couldn't pick between the other two. I love these books, but was mostly a little surprised that we haven't picked a western character on the Twart, and that was a large part of why I was considering him.
2. Plastic Man
It was really tough not to pick Plas. I love the Jack Cole comics and he's in my DC trinity, and as I've mentioned before here, I love drawing the guy. Don't be surprised if I pick him the next time around.1. Popeye
Finally, I ended up deciding on Popeye. I've been a huge fan of the character since I was a kid and thought the idea of the rest of the guys on the Twart drawing him could be really interesting. I've told a couple folks that one of my goals is to get everybody I know to draw Popeye for me. The anchor tattoo on the pirate's arm in the background is completely coincidental, I'd totally forgotten I put that in there. A lot of people also guessed Terry and the Pirates, which is one of my favorite strips and a completely understandable guess.

This was a tough pick because I had planned on picking Captain Marvel this round, but I'm actually glad Ron picked him because now I get to see two of my favorite characters this round.
