A Tale of Jonah
Inspired by the panels at the bottom of this post featuring Blueberry work by Jean Giraud. I love seeing inks side-by-side with the wonderful color work in those panels.

Doctor McCoy
Here's another commission from the last round of my favorite mutant, Hank McCoy. The request was for any version of the guy and since I've drawn every other look recently I went with the familiar fuzzy blue Beast. I don't know when I last tried this one, but I like drawing the guy no matter the era.
I think I'll make posting recent commissions on Mondays a regular thing, at least until I run out.

The Jakes is Occupied
A quick one for today of Rooster Cogburn, based largely on Jeff Bridges' portrayal in the 2010 Coen Brothers version of True Grit.

Monday Mikey
One of the commissions from the last round, Michelangelo takes on Slash. I know there's a couple different varied takes on Slash in the history of the Turtles, but I was pretty taken with his depiction in the recent IDW comics as drawn by the great Andy Kuhn. I was happy to get a Turtles request in this last round.

Green Hornet: Year One Special!
Hey folks! I just found out yesterday that this one was coming out this week. Above is a page from the Green Hornet: Year One Special #1 from Dynamite Entertainment. Written by Buddy Cops co-conspirator Nate Cosby, I drew the 5 "flashback" pages in the book. As you can see from the above page, I was brought in to draw these in something akin to books from the Golden Age of comics, so while it's not completely outside of my sandbox it was still a bit of a stretch. I also drew, colored, and (gasp!) lettered everything. Here's hoping I get another chance to work on the Green Hornet and Kato. Kato in particular was a lot of fun to draw.

Warilla
I'm not going to be able to post a new full sketch of any sort this week, so here's my piece for this year's Monsters & Dames art book, put together by the folks at Emerald City Comicon. I'll be attending the show again this year, and after meaning to contribute to the book for the last couple of years I was finally able to do so this time around. I took this opportunity to draw a giant cigar-chompin' gorilla.
I'll have more info about being at ECCC as we get closer to the show. Thanks for looking!

Eerie Comics #2!
Hey everybody! Just dropping in to let you know that Eerie Comics #2 from Dark Horse is out today! It includes a story by Damon Gentry and the great Mike Allred, a reprint by Archie Goodwin and Gene Colan, and a story written by Brian Clevinger and drawn by me! Above is one panel from our story, "Signaling the End!". I wasn't sure that I was able to talk about my involvement before which is why this is the first I'm mentioning it. Please get out there and check it out, thanks!

Archeology Is Our Religion
Here's a colored version of one of the recent commissions featuring Dr. Henry Jones. I'm not one for likenesses but these are some of my favorite movies ever so it's still a lot of fun.
Quick note: I'm going to be posting a whole lot less of these kind of things in the months to come, which is why I tried to load up a few sketches this week. I've got a fair amount of work in the pipeline and it's far too easy for me to fall into the trap of these daily sketches. So for now I'm making myself stick to no more than one of these per week, if that. The trade-off is that I've got some exciting comics stuff coming soon that I look forward to sharing with you all. I do try to post the random work-in-progress shot on my tumblr page from time to time if that sort of thing interests you. Thanks everybody and I hope your 2013 is starting off great!
